The famous Woolly Rhino is known to paleontologists as Coelodonta antiquitatis, which means "hollow tooth of antiquity," so named because of a hollow depression in some of its teeth. They lived in Europe and Asia from the middle Pleistocene (~1.7 mya) to roughly 17,000 years ago. Their closest living relative is the critically endangered Sumatran rhino.

Woolly rhinos were roughly the size of today's rhinos at 12' long, 5' tall, and 2 tons. Their front horn reached over 4' long! A cave painting depicts these shaggy, red-haired beasts using their giant horns to fight one another.

This scientifically accurate scale model was created by scanning the skull of a Coelodonta skull and then 3D printing it to 1:5 scale.

This replica is hand-painted by paleo artisans in the USA; therefore, they are subject to variation in color, making each specimen unique.
