Tyrannosaurids Crate - Albertosaurus, Daspletosaurus, Gorgosaurus, Tyrannosaurus

Meet the tyrannosaurids of the Late Cretaceous of North America! Albertosaurus, Daspletosaurus, and Gorgosaurus are closely related to each other and occupied similar territories at different times.  They grew larger over time and reached their apex alongside Tyrannosaurus rex.  

Daspletosaurus lived 79-75 million years ago and was the apex predator of its day.

Gorgosaurus lived 76-75 million years ago and displayed two horn-like bumps on its head above the eyes.

Albertosaurus lived 71-68 million years ago and was less than half the size of T. rex, but likely made up for its smaller stature with speed and agility.

Tyrannosaurus rex lived 68-66 million years ago and is aptly regarded as the King of the Dinosaurs.
